Leica Shares the Q-P Full-Frame Camera; a Refined Leica Q

leica q-p compact full-frame camera

The Leica Q-P is described as ‘an artful statement of understatement’ by Leica. This refined camera is powerful, with technical features like the Q, but also elegant with minimal design.

  • Leica Q-P available now for $4,995.00 (USD) from AmazonAdorama, B&H Photo, and from Leica stores.

  • “carries the same superior image quality and technical excellence of the standard Leica Q, but further refines this amazing formula”

  • Features Summilux 28mm f/1.7 lens and a built-in Wi-Fi module that helps you connect to the Leica FOTOS App

“Stealth” Matte Black Compact Camera

The Leica Q comes in “stealth” matte black with a dedicated brown leather strap and two rechargeable batteries included in the box. Featuring a Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH lens, the Q-P has a full-frame 24MP CMOS Sensor to ensure top quality.

Matching the technical specifications of the popular Leica Q, the Q-P offers a more refined design. Stealthiness and fast autofocus make this a great camera for street photography or everyday life. With a simpler design, the Q-P is an evolved compact camera from Leica, featuring a minimalistic look and feel.

Built-in WiFi allows you to quickly share/sync photos, and more with connectivity to the FOTOS app from Leica.

The Leica Q-P has the script logo engraved into the camera rather than the classic front facing red Leica dot logo. The shutter release and on/off switch have been redesigned to a similar style as the M and CL cameras.

A notable ‘omission‘ is the lack of 4K video. The Leica Q-P can’t capture more than 1080p footage at 60FPS, as reported by Engadget.

Regardless, the Q-P is a versatile camera that offers a lot of flexibility for photographers in the field. At $4,995, it may be ‘pricey’, but the refined design and quality make it worthwhile.

Leica partnered with German photographer Philipp Reinhard to test the versatility of the Q-P in a series titled ‘The Shape of the Street’.

The matte black coating has an extremely natural feel and great grip. While the decision to remove the red dot makes it even more invisible in your surroundings. The Leica Q-P has a very purist, beautiful design. – Philipp Reinhard
