We’ve recently been exploring the effects of lens filters and how they can altar your footage to make it look more cinematic. Needless to say, the filter provided us with incredible results and helped give our footage that retro, glowy feel. And this was a test in daylight. Prism Lens FX DREAM FX Filter

When we were searching around for the best lens filters on the market, the DREAM FX lens filter from Prism Lens FX was one that really stood out and kept playing back in our minds. Something about the effect, and how it’s able to make digital footage look like super 8 film, or even 16mm film… it’s really incredible.

As someone who started out shooting super 8, this filter almost seemed too good to be true. The cost of super 8 film for developing and processing everything, plus the actual equipment to shoot with…. it’s not cheap to put it nicely. When I saw the DREAM FX filter and the results on their product pages, I knew I needed to try it out just to help save myself money from shooting super 8 all the time.

Check out some more of the samples below using the DREAM FX Lens Filter from Prism Lens FX and definitely get your hands on one of these filters sooner rather than later. Also, be sure to invest in a set of step up / step down adapter rings – this way you don’t have to buy duplicates of the same lens filter for different lens sizes. :)

We hope these example stills + video have helped you see why you should invest in a lens filter. The tones of the color are way more cinematic and the lens flares that this filter creates are truly incredible.

In certain scenarios (shaded or front lit subjects) the filter is not as noticeable which is actually quite nice in our opinion because the filter doesn’t do ‘too much’. Sometimes if a filter provides an overly altered look it can actually make final product less professional.

Definitely check out Prism Lens FX if you haven’t and be sure to start using a filter on your camera if you’re not already!

Absolutely abysmal customer service with no communication for days at a time. They asked me the same questions numerous times about the product, have a vague return policy that they refused to clarify, and refused to communicate with me any further when I kept asking them to clarify with me. They will also not answer the person who gifted me this after they specified they’d prefer to communicate with her. An awful experience that now feels like a scam.
