Story Studio: The New Mobile Video Editing App from Snap

Today Snap launched a brand new mobile video editing app called Story Studio. It’s completely separate from Snapchat, standing alone as its own app. This app is meant to give creators more control over editing vertical videos and adding elements like text and audio, as well as AR content.

The app was originally announced back in May 2021 and is currently only available for iOS I nearly access. The app is aimed to compete with Tik Tok. Tik Tok has a lot of editing features that social media creators need built-in already. Regardless, this app is incredibly convenient for creators whether they like using Tik Tok’s editor or not – having more options is never a bad thing.

The app is most specifically made for Spotlight, which is a feature within Snapchat that is similar to Tik Tok. It lets users create and watch short vertical videos that are discoverable by everyone on the app. Story Studio lets creators edit their Spotlight videos without leaving the Snap ecosystem. This shows that Snap is invested in Spotlight, and it shouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Story Studio lets editors export directly to Spotlight or to their Snapchat stories.
