The Old Bridge of Mostar was commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1557 and designed by the Ottoman architect Mimar Hayruddin.

It stood as a vital link between the two sides of Mostar, until its destruction during the Bosnian War in 1993, only to be rebuilt and restored to its former glory by 2004.
