The various smoke shapes are available for customization to a large extent and in combination with the appropriate adjustment levels, can be made darker, brighter, cooler or warmer to match with the colors of the photo we are editing.

In order to use the smoke overlays we insert them as an extra layer over the layer we are working on and we blend the smoke layer with the photo layer by choosing the appropriate blend mode or by using layer masks so that we can show the smoke effect only on specific regions on our photo.
