Continuation of the X Series

Fujifilm initially launched their first mirrorless camera, the X-Pro1, in 2012. This featured an image sensor and image processing engine developed in-house.

Since the initial launch, Fujifilm has refined their mirrorless camera and improved the sensors, processing engines, and particularly the video capabilities.

Fujifilm X-T3 Main Features

The X-T3 has a number of new features improving upon the previous X-T2 model.

  1. Newly-developed X-Trans™ CMOS 4 sensor and high-speed X-Processor 4 image processing engine

  2. Significant improvement in low light conditions or when tracking a moving subject

  3. Dramatically improved AF performance: 1.5 times faster processing speed than current models (*2)

  4. Evolved electronic viewfinder (EVF) performance

  5. The world’s first mirrorless digital camera capable of recording 4K/60fps video at 4:2:0 sub-sampling with 10 bits in an SD card in the camera body.

  6. The X-T3 is also the world’s first mirrorless digital camera with APS-C or larger sensor capable of HDMI output of 4K/60fps video at 4:2:2 sub-sampling with 10 bits for greater color information.

X-T3 Performance

The X-T3 boasts some incredible performance features including a newly-developed back-illuminated “X-Trans* CMOS 4” sensor. This sensor enhances image quality and color definition with its color filter array to control moiré and false color without the use of an optical low-pass filter.

Working together with the sensors, the X-T3 also uses the X-Processor 4, an evolved version of X Series’ image processing engine that with advanced processing capabilities.

“The new processor, combined with a new algorithm, enhances the Film Simulation modes, substantially improving the camera’s ability to track moving subjects, boosts AF’s speed and accuracy, and allows for a more diverse range of video functions. It maximizes the full potential of X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor to deliver the highest performance in all aspects in the history of X Series.” (from Fujifilm)
