E.gg Creativity App from Facebook Launches in the US

Today Facebook launched E.gg publicly in the US on the iOS app store. E.gg is an experimental new app from Facebook for making creative webpages, collages, and artistic creations.

The app allows you to compile gifs, images, text, and other artistic flairs like stickers, all on one page. You can also reshare and repurpose other work. Facebook describes the app as, ‘E.gg — a platform for freeform creative expression. With E.gg, you can create zine-like, freeform pages from your phone and share them on the web.’

The company goes on to say that ‘E.gg was inspired by the raw and exploratory spirit of the early internet: manically-blinking GIFs, passionate guestbook entries and personal web pages devoted to niche interests. At the time, you could easily create pages that uniquely represented you. There was something to that atmosphere that was weird and wonderful.’

E.gg is the modern, mobile solution to the early internet! Making creative expression fun and easy on your phone.

It’s a pretty fun app for expressing yourself. You can easily drag elements around and make it fun! Check out my profile here.

Here’s more information from Facebook’s press release:

With E.gg, you can curate images, gifs, shapes and text onto freeform canvases to express who you are and what you love. In our limited beta, we’ve seen people create fan pages, guides, tributes, profiles, collages, recipes and more. We’ve been continually inspired and can’t wait to see what else y’all do with E.gg.

Anything you create on E.gg can be shared on the web, at your own unique URL. That means anyone can view your pages, even if they don’t have the app.

Finally, you can browse others’ creations right from the app. When you discover bits on other people’s pages that you like, you can easily add them to your own (with attribution). Others can do the same when they find something they like from you. These bits are linked between pages, so you can easily discover other creators using the same element.

E.gg is available from the iOS App Store today in the US and you can browse all the cool creations from the domain: https://e.gg/
