Earlier today (July 10, 2018) Nikon announced their newest superzoom camera, the COOLPIX P1000. The camera is an absolute monster with an astounding 125x optical zoom (24-30000mm equivalent) and is powered by high performance NIKKOR optics.

Perfect for photographers shooting from far distances, the COOLPIX P1000 has the ability to capture crystal clear images of your favorite ballplayer from the top of the stadium or fill the frame with celestial objects like the moon, that normally only a telescope could capture.

125x Optical Zoom NIKKOR Lens (Equivalent of 3000mm)

The 125x optical zoom NIKKLR lens not only covers wide-angle 24mm shots, but its is also capable of capturing those hard to reach super-telephoto images at 3000mm focal lengths. The lens is able to support an incredibly broad zoom range that was never before possible with a compact camera.

High-Resolution XGA OLED Electronic Viewfinder

This high performance viewfinder makes viewing images comfortable and easy, no matter the condition. It is a clearly projected subject with a magnification of approximately 0.68x (equivalent in 35mm [135] format).

Dual Detect Optical VR

This incredible feature allows for camera shake compensation equivalent to a 5.0 stop increase in shutter speed and is used as an effective image stabilization even with hand-held tele-photo shooting.

The Dual Detect Optical VR achieves vibration reduction for worry free super-tele-photo photography and is able to process two types of camera shake information while shooting that are detected from the angular velocity sensor as well as the actual image itself. This allows for extremely precise camera-shake compensation with the effects fo camera shake effectively suppressed.

4K UHD/30p Movie & Recording Support

The new COOLPIX P1000 also supports the recording of high-definition 4K UHD/30p movies and can even utilize the power of 3000mm-equivalent zoom shooting to crisply capture subjects even at great distances.

 

Pricing and Availability

The current status on the price of the camera is a suggested retail price of $999.95 which means that it is subject to change, but regardless, will be available in September 2018.
